Elim Lau was born and raised in a Christian family in Penang, Malaysia. He loves music ever since he was very young, started playing the piano at age four and the violin the year following. He believes that music is a gift from God and that there are many opportunities to express this gift within the church. After high school, he came to the United States to further his studies in music. He earned his Bachelor of Music from Louisiana State University, major in violin performance. Then, he enrolled in Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary to pursue Master of Music in Church Music and Master of Divinity degrees to gain a deeper Biblical foundation in order to better serve God with music. He has served as Minister of Worship and Music in Chinese churches in the DFW metroplex and New York City. He is currently pursuing his Doctorate of Musical Arts in Conducting. He teaches violin and piano here at the Fine Arts Academy.
