Policies & Procedures

Welcome to our academy, where we are dedicated to nurturing the musical talents of our students and providing them with the best possible learning experience. We understand that effective policies & procedures are essential to ensuring a smooth and productive journey in music education. This document outlines our Makeup Policy, Drop Policy, Instrument Policy, and Accompanist Policy, all designed to create a structured and supportive environment for students and their families. Whether you are a new student embarking on your musical journey or a seasoned musician seeking further guidance, our policies are here to guide you and help you make the most of your time with us. Thank you for choosing our academy as your musical home, and we look forward to assisting you on your path to musical excellence.

Makeup Policy

We view your private lesson time as a regular commitment. If the teacher needs to cancel a lesson, it will be rescheduled. If a student must miss a lesson, we kindly request advance notice. Ideally, a 24-hour notice is preferred. However, if a student falls ill on the day of the lesson, don’t hesitate to contact the instructor before 12:00 p.m.

In such cases, the teacher will arrange to make up one lesson per student per semester, provided that proper advance notice is given.

Please get in touch with your instructor directly, as messages may not always be relayed through the church office.

Drop Policy

Should a student decide to discontinue lessons, a written notice must be submitted at least one month before discontinuation. Tuition for two months must be paid: the month of notice and the following month. Any student dropping out after March 15 must pay the remaining tuition.

Instrument Policy

Students need to practice on instruments that support their progress. Guitars and violins should be customized to fit the individual and may require upgrades as the student grows. Piano students may begin with a keyboard for one semester only. Afterward, owning an acoustic piano is crucial, as the student’s technique may suffer, and valuable instructional time could be lost. Similarly, drum set students may start with a snare drum for one semester only. Our Director and teachers are available to recommend dealers for new, used, or rental instruments.

Accompanist Policy

A fee for recitals for accompanists working with vocal, violin, and flute students is charged. Students needing an accompanist will be charged $40 directly to the accompanist, covering two rehearsals and the performance. Students with only one rehearsal before the performance will be charged $30. The decision regarding one or two rehearsals with an accompanist is at the individual teacher’s discretion.

For festivals, the Academy will cover the accompanist fee for vocal, violin, and flute students, which includes one rehearsal and the festival performance.
